Atlanta Winters Are Hard on Irrigation Systems
The first freeze often shows up around mid-November, then the temperature swings back and forth for months. Each freeze is another chance for water in your lines, valves and backflow device to crack something.
Winterizing takes that risk off the table. In spring, we can start the system back up, check every zone and get your lawn watering again.
Watering Right on Georgia Clay
Red clay takes in water slowly. Run a zone too long and the water starts running down the driveway instead of reaching the roots. Splitting that run time into shorter cycles, with a break between them, gives the soil time to soak it up.
Georgia also limits when you can water. Under the state's Water Stewardship Act, landscape watering is generally allowed between 4 p.m. and 10 a.m., and some local rules go further. Early morning is usually the best time, and it fits inside that window.
